Harry Larned opened the doors to the Sports Creel in March of . An avid outdoorsman and Spokane valley raised family man, he wanted an outlet to offer the goods and services involving the wide array of activities he enjoyed. The Sports Creel was just that outlet. Over the years, the "Creel" has  carried everything from fishing, camping, archery and ammunition to boats, bicycles, skateboards, snowboards,  motorcycles, toys, and sporting equipment. The one constant in the sea of change was snow ski equipment... We had it 1954, and we have it now!

Harry and his wife Liz had seven children, and at one point or another, they all worked at the family business... most were smart enough to move on to other careers; the exception was his daughter Lin. Lin and her husband Herb Genteman currently manage the shop, which over the years has adapted its products and services to suit their passions and the valley's needs. In , Herb and Lin successfully tricked their oldest son Micah into working at the shop full time, and in  Micah fooled his future wife T.J. very much the same way. Throw a couple of passionate, wise,  and friendly seasonal employees into the family mix, and you have the recipe for the current dish that is the Sports Creel. We represent 3 generations of family who passionately sell fun! Currently, the store carries nothing but the finest equipment around for skiers and snow enthusiasts, and the freshest of summer toys for those of you who enjoy recreating during the warmer seasons!

We have always been, and will continue to be, a destination type ski shop.
